What the Flow Switch Does
The flow switch proves adequate water flow through the heat exchanger before the boiler is allowed to fire, protecting the exchanger from dry-firing and overheating. A stuck switch causes no-heat or no-hot-water faults.
A paddle or magnetic sensor detects circulation; only when sufficient flow is proven does the control permit the burner to light, preventing damage to the exchanger.
