What the Aquastat Does
The aquastat monitors boiler water temperature and controls the burner to maintain set-points and high-limit safety, mainly on conventional and cast-iron boilers. A failed aquastat causes overheating, no heat, or erratic temperatures.
A temperature sensor and switching contacts turn the burner on and off to hold the target water temperature, and open the circuit if a high-limit temperature is reached.
