What the Low Water Cutoff Does

The low water cutoff (LWCO) is a safety control that shuts the burner off if the boiler loses water, preventing dangerous dry-firing. It is required on many systems and must never be bypassed.

A probe or float senses water presence; if the level falls below safe, the LWCO opens the burner circuit so the boiler cannot fire without water in the exchanger.

We supply and fit the low water cutoff as part of a complete boiler repair or new installation, and inspect it during annual maintenance for homes across Greater Vancouver.
