What the Secondary Heat Exchanger Does
The secondary (or condensing) heat exchanger sits in the flue path of high-efficiency boilers and extracts additional heat from the exhaust gases before they leave the appliance. It is where flue-gas condensation forms, so it operates in a wet, mildly acidic environment and is prone to blockage and corrosion over time.
